Hi there, I’m guessing you’re here because you’re ready to take control of your money.

I’m Anne, and I’ll help you do just that

As a financial coach, I empower and support amazing women like you in all things related to money and finances. And between me and you, I absolutely love what I do.

Here’s my admission

I was on the other side once. I worked for large finance companies whose job it was to help people like you and me spend and get into debt. Their profits grew from helping customers part with their money, overspending and then potentially spiral out of control with debt. These companies understood the emotions and triggers to get us to part with our money, often better than we understand ourselves.

And that did not sit well with me.

Everything about my childhood, upbringing and education told me my vocation was to improve lives and uplift women.

So I walked away from it all.

I left the large financial institutions and created Tanser Coaching where I get to use my skills and experience to have a positive impact on women’s lives.

“I want to improve women’s lives with smart money management and financial independence.”

Growing up

I was lucky.

I was raised by strong, independent women who showed me the value of financial security.

My Mom, Step-Mom and three Grandmothers all had full-time careers. They were independent, stood on their own two feet and support themselves and their families financially.

Growing up as a child of divorce, I was acutely aware of the emotional and financial resilience these amazing women possessed to get through rough patches. They showed me how important it is to stand on my own two feet as an adult and instilled in me a strong value to be financially secure.

I never fully knew what path lay ahead of me, but having the financial flexibility to move through changes has been critical, and still is today, as I continue to navigate life’s ups and downs.

And I kept learning from the best

In addition to learning from the incredible women in my life, I’ve had the privilege to advance my education at some amazing institutions.

I have a Bachelor in Economics and Religion from Wellesley College, a leading women’s undergraduate college in the US that’s passionate about teaching strong, independent women who’ll make a difference in the world, so it was the perfect fit for me. Economics and Religion … I know!  The link made sense to me, but I can tell you more about that when we meet.

After a few years working, I got an MBA from Harvard University.

For nearly 20 years, I worked at leading financial institutions in the US and UK, primarily in consumer finance where I learned loads about consumer behaviour, how companies encourage us to spend and how people manage their money (the good, the bad and the ugly).

In 2020 I completed the Financial Coach Practitioner Certificate training through Wise Monkey to support the coaching services I offer in my business along with the Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA) in the UK.

So yep, you could say I’ve got a pretty good grasp of all things business and finance!

And behind-the-scenes

...is me, Anne.

Passionate, driven, straight-talking and incredibly supportive.

You might have detected a touch of American in my words. I’m a dual citizen, but still sound quite American even after 15 years in the UK. I was born in Germany at a US military hospital before moving back to the US when I was 18 months old. I’ve lived in various places around the US but mostly Minnesota, Boston and New York.

I came to London in 2000 on an exchange programme with work and fell in love with the city. I jumped at the chance of a permanent role a few years later and the rest is history. I met my husband, moved to the outskirts of London and got married all in the span of 18 months. Our daughter was born exactly 1 year later. Fun times. Talk about life transitions!

I now live with my husband and two girls in Reigate, Surrey doing the usual Mom-juggle of work, school-runs and family time.

And occasionally, just occasionally, I get a bit of ‘me’ time.

If you want to know a little bit more…

(And who doesn’t, right?) Here we go.

To relax I love reading, spinning (I’m a big fan of my Peloton), Pilates, yoga and hiking in the Surrey countryside. I also love clothes and yes, even I’m susceptible to some emotional spending. In the evenings I enjoy a great glass (or two) of wine and some downtime with close friends and family.

Living in the UK, I crave good tex mex food with a great Margarita. I’m most happy when I’ve got time to sleep or when I get to catch a Boston Red Sox game.

And finally, the last music concerts I went to were Lionel Richie, Bon Jovi, a few Proms and James Bay, and you’ll often find me singing loudly in the car to Alicia Keys.  Pretty good mix hey?
